Doing a 180

Doing a 180

Once again I’m reflecting on those things I feel like I should be doing with my time, if only I had the drive to do so. If I can change a few of my daily habits from bad habits to good habits, I’d make it easier for myself to make some necessary changes and get back on track. 😊

Doing a 180

Inspired by my desire to completely turn around and move in the opposite direction.

Also inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s famous quote from Walden…

“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.”
– Henry David Thoreau

I know the steps that I can take
To right the ship and turn around.
Instead, I change nothing at all,
And walk the path on which I’m bound.

My current path does not lead to
The life I know I want to live.
Yet I continue walking it,
An act I find hard to forgive.

I know there lies inside of me
The strength to live the life I dream,
But I have yet to tap that strength.
Inaction has become life’s theme.

Don’t get me wrong, this life of mine
Is blessed in each and every way.
There’s simply more inside of me
Than what I’ve managed to display.

So, I return here, yet again.
I walk this path I know too well,
Bemoaning my incompetence
That traps me in this private hell.

In Walden, Thoreau said it best.
Most people live more quietly
Than they would if they had the strength
To bare their soul entirely.

I do not want to leave this earth
And have my song still trapped inside.
I want to turn my life around
And sing with my heart opened wide.
